Charity Golf Event for Teen With Autism

Posted by: George Ritacco on 9/5/2010

It is a golf course "drive" like no other.

It's the kind that isn't measured in love, but in yards...

Learn how people are hitting the links to help a teen in need - For Jake's Sake.

Sr. FAMCare developer at GVT, Kelley Foust's son Noah - has autism.  In a previous post - we covered an interview with Kelley where we learned more about their situation, the challenges of raising their child with autism and how they found help through a special dog named Harry.  Harry came to the Foust's through "4 Paws" - an expert training organization that trains service dogs.  Harry went through many hours of specialized training before he met Noah.

Since then Harry has changed the way Noah views life.  As a result of watching how Harry and Noah have bonded over the year's - family friends, the Garrett's - believe a service dog may help their 15 yr. old son Jake, who also has autism.

For Jakes Sake - Golf Tournament Sponsor for Kids with AutismBut service dog's can come with a heft price tag.  The price for a 4 Paws trained dog - $25,000 and the group requires 100% of that money come through fundraising.

Once the Old Hickory Golf Club heard of their need - they decided to sponsor a golf event, to help them cover the cost.

All of the money earned on the greens will go to finding a life-long companion for Jake.
